Description:

Abacavir is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) used in combination therapy to treat HIV. It prevents viral replication by inhibiting reverse transcriptase.

Precautions:

• Must be screened for HLA-B*5701 allele to avoid hypersensitivity reactions
